Jordan Madlon’s small, cut-out canvases take on pleasantly cartoonish forms while remaining abstract, just like those of Justin Adian, elongated and intertwined, pastel and loose, or the paintings of Ruth Root, who, at 50 years of age, almost seems comparatively the venerable elder.
