Artistes en résidence (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and Lademoen Kunstnerversteder (Trondheim, Norway) are offering a six-week research residency at Lademoen Kunstnerversteder (LKV) in Trondheim.
Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) is an artist-run organization founded in 1993 in Trondheim, Norway. Located in Lademoen, a vibrant area close to the city center, LKV provides permanent studio spaces for over 40 artists, as well as shared workshops for wood, metal, printmaking, analog photography, ceramics, and large-scale production, accessible to professional artists [here for more details]. LKV also operates BABEL, an artist-run exhibition space for contemporary art, and runs an international residency program, hosting approximately 25 artists annually from visual arts, crafts, performing arts, film, literature, curatorial practice, and art criticism.
Through the residency, LKV offers a framework that allows artists to work on their own terms, supporting immersion and artistic development while facilitating exchange and collaboration. Residents need to work autonomously in their research and production, with access to professional facilities to support the development of their practice.
Rooted in democratic values, LKV is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening artists’ working conditions, fostering knowledge sharing, and promoting artistic innovation. We aim to strengthen the role of art in society and make contemporary art more accessible to a wider audience.

Created in 2011 in Clermont-Ferrand, A·R is a non-profit organization which supports contemporary creation by organizing residencies for artists and researchers in contemporary art. We support the international mobility of artists and the circulation of ideas and know-how, through the development of a vast network of local, national and international partners.
A·R understands residencies as a period entirely dedicated to research and experimentation, with no obligation to produce. This orientation intends to provide artists with the necessary time for qualitative and in-depth research, to promote a real immersion in the territory and to allow all the trial and error, detours and critical questioning necessary for the development of their art practice.
Although this call concerns the residency with our partners at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, the A·R team remains available to the artists and provides ongoing support throughout their residency through regular exchanges.
The period of residency of the artist from France in Trondheim is scheduled from 3rd September to 13th October 2026.
Note : Artists are not expected to outline a specific project for the residency, but to specify their need and / or interest in the cross residency program or for an artistic residency in general. It is specified that this cross residency is a research program with no obligation to finalize production. In their note of intent, artists can highlight current research, their expectations about how the program will expand their existing body of work and/or enhance their professional development, their need for a studio or paid working time, their link to or interest in the territory, or any other reason that explains their desire to apply.
The deadline for applications is 22nd March, 23h59 French time.
The selection committee is composed by members of A·R and LKV.
As the jury is international, the note of intent must be written in English. It is also recommended (but not mandatory) to submit the portfolio in English, in order to facilitate the understanding of the artist’s practice. English proficiency is not evaluated, and the use of automatic translation tools is allowed.
One artist will be selected. The selection criteria are the quality of the artistic work, the clarity of presentation of the practice, the relevance of the practice within the residency context, and the benefits the artist may gain from the residency.
